BEST OF THE WEB: MORTAL KOMBAT LEGACY

Get over here (and watch this awesome web series)!

On episode 7 of our VERSUS PLAYER podcast, we spoke about some of our favourite (and not so favourite) video game movies. One awesome video game adaptation we forgot to mention is the Mortal Kombat Legacy web series.

Mortal Kombat Legacy is a more gritty and real world take on the Mortal Kombat story and characters than the movies and TV series that precede it. There are 19 episodes over 2 seasons.

The web series follows the story we are familiar with, being that the winners of Mortal Kombat get to rule over different realms.

Mortal Kombat Legacy is brutal and, like the game, not for kids. There are some really cool martial arts choreography and stunts performed. This particularly picks up in the second season.

Many of the characters are played by familiar faces, including Casper Van Dien, Jeri Ryan and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (who, in season 2, reprises his role as Shang Tsung). In true Mortal Kombat fashion, Raiden is played by a different actor in season 2. In fact, there are quite a few actor changes over the two seasons.

Mortal Kombat Legacy season 1 can be viewed online at Warner Bros. Official YouTube Channel. It used to be up on Machinima’s page. Season 2 can be found on a few different sites. You know how to find it!

Here at VERSUS PLAYER we love everything nerdy and want to share with you some of our favourite things on the Internet. Best of the Web is an ongoing series where we do exactly that.

If you liked this you might like one of our previous Best of the Web picks, Corridor Digital. They make incredible videos that are video game inspired.

Happy gaming!
