A taste of Spelunky goodness
If you have ever listened to one of our podcasts, you have definitely heard us talk about one of our favourite games, Spelunky. Spelunky Classic is a free version of the game that was originally browser based.
Spelunky is a platformer that has randomised levels and death at every turn. It’s aptly described as 2D Dark Souls.
You can play the game by following this link to the official Spelunky website.
This is a more toned down version of the game than you get on console or Steam. It’s not as pretty, harder to control and moves along at a slower pace. That said, it’s Spelunky for free, which is really awesome in and of itself! You can also find browser versions of the game online.
Now we strongly recommend the console and Steam version of Spelunky, but if you want to see what the game is all about, or if you are a fan of the original and want a different kind of challenge, have a go of Spelunky Classic.
The updated, full version of the game goes on sale on Steam every now and then. Still, it’s worth a purchase at full price.
Here is a video of the full version of the game:
Here at VERSUS PLAYER we love everything nerdy and want to share with you some of our favourite things on the Internet. Best of the Web is an ongoing series where we do exactly that.
If you liked this you might like one of our previous Best of the Web picks, Mortal Kombat Legacy. It’s a web video series based on Mortal Kombat, which, like Spelunky, contains lots of brutal moments.
