  1. Ben

Deciding my numero uno game took a little longer to come up with than I’d hoped for (and I’m incredibly late in posting this up. But…whatever). 2016 was a year of ups and downs in terms of games, as well as other things going on in the world. However, there were some good experiences.
I’d have to say that my number one spot goes to Dark Souls 3. How do you know if someone plays Dark Souls? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you…over and over again. I certainly fit in this category and the genre just ‘clicks’ with me. That’s not to say I’m a good player, in fact, I’m barely a decent player. But this punishing modern take on the AD&D style game is what I grew up with and I just can’t get enough of it. This is why Dark Souls 3 gets my number one pick.
Furthermore, Dark Souls 3 combines the best features of the series to demonstrate a culmination of their best ideas, level designs, mechanics and story development to make an amazing game.

Pile of shame: Uncharted 4. (Sorry Joe! I’ll finish it!)

I’ll forgive you regarding Uncharted 4, just get to it for your own sake!
Great pick for your top game and love the reasoning. I particularly love your final comment about it taking the best elements from the previous games and building on them to make an amazing game. Wish all franchises did this!
Also, if you are a Dark Souls fan and have gotten anywhere in the game, you have to be more than just a decent player!
      Thanks for the comment!
