PLAYSTATION EXPERIENCE CONFERENCE 2016 HIGHLIGHTS

UNCHARTED AND CRASH MAKE AN APPEARANCE ON PLAYSTATION 4

The folks at PlayStation put on one heck of a jam-packed show with this year’s PlayStation Experience conference. With about 40 games shown, many for the first time, there was a lot for gamers of all interests. There are ways to watch the whole thing online, but to save you time and from you having to listen to the incessant yelling from one woman who obviously was sitting way too close to a microphone, here are my personal highlights of the show.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Unmistakably Uncharted from the get go, although the Tomb Raideresque pat down was surely on purpose to try and throw people. Expanding the universe of Uncharted, yes please!

Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite

Seeing Ryu and Mega Man going to battle together against Iron Man and Captain Marvel is fan service at its best. This is one of our favourite franchises at Versus Player and we can’t wait! Oh… and Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is available RIGHT NOW on the PS Store!

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

The fan service continues with a beautiful looking remaster of the three original Crash Bandicoot games. I was kinda hoping for a tease of Crash Team Racing. There is always PSX 2017.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Final Demo

Another of many AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW moments. Jump on the PS Store and have a go of the demo yourself, in VR if you dare (that’s a whole lot of nope for me. I’d like to sleep tonight).

Shuhei Yoshida Welcome

The crowd went crazy for a reason, because Shu is the man. He showed us what is surely the final Last Guardian trailer. Yep, it sure looks a lot like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

PaRappa the Rappa 20th Anniversary Demo

Kick, punch, it’s all in the rhythm RIGHT NOW on the PS Store.

Knack 2 Trailer

Now THIS is a highlight! The sequel no one asked for is coming to PS4.

Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom Trailer

And you thought the first game looked amazing. Just wow!

Gio Corsi’s Lightning Round

Now whenever someone walks on stage in the future and says here comes the lightning round, what comes next will be compared to Gio Corsi’s section of the show. So. Many. Games. While some look much better than others, it’s always reassuring to know that a platform is being supported.

Yakuza 6 and Yakuza Kiwami, Dangan Ronpa V3: Killing Harmony, YS Origin, Dreadnought, Pyre, Vane, Absolver, What Remains of Edith Finch (my highlight of this part), Nex Machina, a sizzle reel of coming first on console to PlayStation, Let it Die (available free RIGHT NOW in certain parts of the world…), Lara Croft Go and Windjammers. I might have even missed one or two. This was indeed a lightning round.

Horizon Zero Dawn Trailer

Like anyone needs to see more of this game. It looks amazing.

The Last of Us Part 2

When you start and end a show with two new offerings from Naughty Dog, it’s a good show. While the comment about it being in super early development means it’s a way off, just knowing that we will get to continue the story is a welcome relief. I wonder how they will top the ending of the first? The wonderful thing is that somehow they will. It’s Naughty Dog!

The Best of the Rest

All trailers are up on the PlayStation YouTube channel, with quite a few VR offerings.

Check out the Versus Player podcast over on iTunes. We’ll be discussing the show and a whole lot more on episode 4.
